Additives masterbatches

Samtone offers oxo-biodegradable, fragrance, BOPP film modifiers, and flame retardant masterbatches for applications in polyethylene, polypropylene, and more, enhancing biodegradability,

We offer a wide range of additive masterbatches for use in foam sheets, injection mouldings, profile extrusion, nets, and other applications. The additive masterbatches and their features are as follows:

Oxo-Biodegradable Additive Masterbatch

OXO-BIODEGRADABLE MASTER BATCH is a range of masterbatches supplied to create a controlled and safe oxo-biodegradable effect in standard polyethylene and polypropylene films. Samtone Oxo Biodegradable MB has been used in agricultural mulch films, food packaging (PE, BOPP, CPP), and checkout bags (HDPE, LDPE).

Fragrance Additive Masterbatch

A wide range of fragrance masterbatches is available for incorporation into various polymer substrates.

Commonly used fragrances, such as Baby, Lemon, or Rose, are traditionally employed in the film industry for refuse and nappy sacks to conceal or mask malodours.

BOPP Film Modifier

BOPP film modifiers provide improvements in mechanical properties, which are useful for overlapping film, shrink packing, and labeling. They reduce the haze of PP film.

This Additive MB improves the saleability at lower temperatures of BOPP film.

BOPP film modifiers help increase the extrudability and stretchability of films.

Flame Retardant MB

Producing high-performance, UV-compatible, flame retardant masterbatches for use in injection-moulded and extruded ABS and polypropylene applications, offering UL94 V0 passes at low addition levels without significantly compromising impact strength and UV resistance properties.

Samtone Industries is testing FR Master Batch based on UL 94 vertical and horizontal tests, Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS 302), and Limited Oxygen Index tests.

Two types of Flame Retardant MB have been produced by Samet Plast:

1. Halogenated Flame Retardant MB – Especially bromine-based types of FR MB with antimony trioxide synergistic effects are usually the most cost-effective flame retardants. For effective fire resistance, they often require a lower loading than other flame retardants.
APPLICATION: Polyethylene and Polypropylene film.

2. Non-Halogenated MB: Two Types of Non-Halogenated FR MB.

Phosphates-based Flame Retardant, especially for Polyurethane Foam, Polyamides, and Polyester, LLDPE, PP, and HDPE applications.

Aluminium Trioxide-based FR MB for PVC Cables and LDPE applications.

Blowing/Foaming Masterbatch

These are compounds that decompose at elevated temperatures, forming gas and other inert components that expand the plastic material, giving it a cellular structure. This process offers weight reduction, better acoustical properties, improved insulation, as well as cost savings. These can be further divided into exothermic foaming agents and endothermic foaming agents. Exothermic foaming agents are typically used for larger parts, while endothermic foaming agents can be used for tapes, films, sheets, and the removal of sink marks in molded parts.

Antioxidant Masterbatch

These are typically organic compounds that slow down or completely prevent polymer degradation caused by oxidation. Degradation in the form of discoloration, changes in viscosity, surface crazing, and the loss of physical, mechanical, and optical properties can be avoided through the use of antioxidants. These situations usually occur due to the polymer’s exposure to elevated temperatures during processing or long-term exposure to the environment. These antioxidants can be classified as primary antioxidants and secondary antioxidants, depending on their stabilizing effect over the polymer’s lifespan.

Silicon Master Batches

This contains ultra-high molecular weight polydimethylsiloxane additives dispersed in polyethylene. Silicone masterbatch is primarily used in HDPE optical fiber ducts. This masterbatch provides lubricity, reduces the coefficient of friction, and improves abrasion resistance. Silicone masterbatch is typically used for high-temperature applications. Silicone masterbatch is also beneficial for rubber applications, such as shoes.

Anti-Bacterial & Anti-Microbial

Specialty antibacterial and antimicrobial masterbatch solutions are designed to meet a wide variety of application needs in the packaging, consumer products, and medical markets, including spunbond nonwoven fabrics and thin-layer applications (e.g., biaxially oriented or BOPP film), as well as molding articles. The Samet Plast antibacterial and antimicrobial product inhibits the growth of microorganisms that can cause odors, discoloration, the formation of mildew, or deterioration in the physical properties of plastics. Antimicrobial masterbatches protect against bacteria and fungi.
